Coastal Modelling Engineer - Perth
We're looking for a Coastal Modelling Engineer to join our Perth team, someone with a strong coastal foundation who wants to focus their career on numerical modelling while staying connected to real-world outcomes.
At Bluecoast, we take a fresh approach to engineering in coastal environments. Motivated by the ocean and empowered by innovative technology, we work with nature to deliver responsible, adaptable solutions to complex coastal challenges.
This role is for an engineer who applies sound technical judgement, interprets modelling results carefully, and contributes to advice that coastal communities rely on in a changing climate.
Who we are
Born from a love of the ocean and the belief that bigger isn't always better, we are a specialist coastal and marine consultancy working across Australia, the Pacific, and beyond.
We're curious by nature and comfortable with complexity, approaching coastal challenges thoughtfully and deliberately.
As climate change accelerates and the digital landscape evolves, adaptability is key. We apply nimble expertise and innovative technologies to remain a trusted advisor for coastal resilience.
The opportunity
Based in our Perth office, you'll work closely with our coastal, metocean and modelling engineers across the business. This is a full-time, in-person role with flexibility built in, because collaboration, learning and problem-solving happen best together.
You'll play a key role in delivering coastal and marine numerical modelling that informs real decisions. Working across multidisciplinary project teams, you'll take ownership of modelling components within larger studies, contribute to coastal management, engineering design and climate adaptation projects, and work alongside senior modellers who provide support while trusting your capability.
What you'll be doing
Applying coastal and marine numerical modelling to inform coastal management, engineering and resilience decisions
Using metocean, bathymetric and monitoring data to calibrate, validate and test models with confidence
Designing and delivering scenario modelling that supports practical, defensible coastal options
Interpreting modelling outputs and communicating insights clearly through reports, figures and technical discussions
Contributing to coastal monitoring programs and translating data into meaningful analysis
Preparing clear, well-structured technical outputs and visualisations
Working collaboratively across project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes our clients and communities can trust
About you
We are looking for someone who:
Has 3–5 years' experience across coastal engineering and/or modelling
Has a solid understanding of coastal processes underpinning numerical models
Wants to focus their career on modelling while staying grounded in coastal outcomes
Is collaborative, curious and motivated by helping coastlines and communities thrive
Why Bluecoast?
We exist to deliver practical coastal solutions so that coastlines and communities can thrive. Everything we do is grounded in working with natural systems, not against them, and providing advice that is clear, defensible and genuinely useful.
We care deeply about the places we work in and the people who rely on them. That means taking the time to understand each coastline, applying sound technical judgement, and delivering outcomes that clients can trust in a changing climate.
At Bluecoast, you'll be part of a close-knit team motivated by the ocean, guided by expertise, and committed to doing the work properly, not for scale or show, but for long-term impact.
