Joel Bienefelt
Joel is an environmental and coastal scientist with a strong interest in coastal environments and the challenges of managing dynamic shorelines and waterways. His academic background in environmental science and climate change adaptation has shaped his understanding of coastal processes, resilience, and evidence-based coastal management.
Early in his career, Joel worked in environmental consulting, supporting major environmental approvals and compliance projects across the resources sector. He later moved into the coastal management space, where his work focused on sand management, coastal monitoring, and the development of evidence-based procedures to support the operation and management of coastal and estuarine systems.
Joel now applies this experience to a wide range of coastal management studies, environmental assessments, and coastal resilience work across NSW and Queensland, contributing to practical outcomes that support the long-term management of Australia’s coastal environments.
