Nicolas Hanousek

Nick’s pathway into coastal science and engineering has been shaped by a strong interest in ocean processes and how data and modelling can be used to better understand complex coastal and hydrodynamic systems. With a background in ocean and civil engineering, his academic journey led him to completing a doctorate on tidal energy and hydro-environmental modelling, with a subsequent post-doctoral project

His experience spans both research and consultancy, where he has worked on a range of coastal, flooding, and hydrodynamic studies. Nick’s work has involved numerical modelling, data analysis, and the application of computational tools to explore how coastal and waterway systems respond under varying conditions. This blend of academic research and applied consulting has shaped his broad technical skillset and problem-solving capability.

Nick brings a strong interest in using data, modelling, and innovative computational approaches to support better understanding and management of coastal and waterway environments, contributing to evidence-based outcomes across a range of coastal and hydrodynamic challenges.
